New Tribes game is not free to play, devs say they made mistakes with Ascend monetization

Tribes 3: Rivals is a new game in the Tribes series that is taking signups for limited playtests. It will be a 64-player online shooter with a focus on fast-paced movement and team-based combat. The game will cost $20 and all gameplay items will be available to everyone from the start. There will be no single-player campaign, but Prophecy Games plans to release enough tools for the community to create their own.
